Shadow Poetry

patchwork stitchwork

do you remember?

before the veil? beyond the pale?

do you remember?

after the fall? when you took it all?

i remember

how she swept the night. rigged the fight.

i remember

when you stole my blood. left a letter in the mud.

i can’t tell you

for the chain on my heart. my pain is your art.

i’ll learn

from every new stroke. i’ll fix what you broke.

i’ll make one that’s new

one that sees me, not you.

Shadow Poetry

Marble Tongues

Maybe when it drops down

We’ll make sense of it

Maybe not

If the sun drips sapphire

It might burn to the bone

Maybe simply warm

The ashes

Until they catch fire

If we drown in our riches

Perhaps the earth will sorrow

Or perhaps she’ll sigh

And drink down the blood

An offering to the carrion

To restore balance

Maybe when it falls down

We’ll make a foundation of it

Maybe not

If the bones keep dry

I’ll sleep inside the carcass

No one will breathe my way

Shadow Poetry

People say, change the world with your art.

But what if the art I have inside me is tainted, the same as I am?

What if all I have to offer is twisted and soaked in the morbid and macabre.

What if the words I have to vomit, the gore-scape I have to paint, is laced with bloody barbed wire, twirling through the small glimmers of such agonizing beauty that it drips into porcelain until even the sun cannot bear to gaze upon it?

I don’t have time to sabotage anything else

But that isn’t true, is it?

I don’t have the heart to camouflage anymore pain.

But I’ll do it

Won’t I?

I don’t have any way

To speak

That is,

When you had me thinking

I was weak

Until I realized one night

I’m not responsible for your sight.

I’m sitting here telling true

You choose only to see light.

What happens when you

Find something else?

Still me

Always me

Waiting for someone

To see

But I won’t tell you that

Ah, that is the conundrum, is it not? The ache, the need to scream, to let it all out. To be free, fully come alive. To deny parts of me, well.

That’s not going to bring life to anything, now is it?

necRomance Me

All my secrets
Covered in lies
Half truths you know
The Departed rise

Hunted now – make their lies true
Never enough for any of you

Truth rages
Whispers haunt
Inside it screams
Thoughts taunt

Bleed bruises gone ‘til I can’t stand the sane
I’ll bleed them dry to destroy my pain

Shadows of sun
And crimson spires
More will come
Deleterious desires

Disregard their wailing, desperate screams
As their nails scrape and scratch the seams

If you’ll listen
The daemon know
Ignore their accusations
Don’t make me go

Here in the darkness they know me well
Quiet now; let the contusion swell

My lips deceive
The Wronged stalk
Stay tonight
Outline you in chalk

Close your eyes and pretend you don’t want this
It won’t’ burn for long; my only promise

Never mind the corpses
Kiss away the pain
Hold me tight
So the blood can drain

Murmers it for your soul in design
Whatever you do, they purr, don’t sign

Porcelain skin
Eyes keep forever
Putrid and still
Don’t want their never

But when the Gray lashes and cuts you quite deep
With needle and thread I’ll make sure you keep

Stitch me together
A monster they say
Watch me eat poison
Sit with crown on display

Let all else die, I beckon you to join me
Choose my embrace and I’ll erase your agony

On your knees now
Sink your teeth in
Breathless, take my hand
Let the inevitable begin
